Accessibility
What we are aiming for, what already works, what does not work yet, and how to get help if the site is getting in your way.

What we are aiming for
We are working towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Many of the people these books are made for, and made by, live with a disability — often one they acquired in service. Getting this right matters here more than most places.
We have not yet had an independent audit, so we are not claiming conformance. This page says where we actually are.
What works today
- Pages are built from ordinary headings, lists, links and form fields, so screen readers and keyboard navigation work.
- Every form field has a visible label, and errors are described in words rather than by colour alone.
- Text reflows and stays readable when you zoom in or use a phone, without sideways scrolling.
- Text is set for contrast against its background, and you can enlarge it with your browser.
- The Digital Edition is EPUB, which lets your own reader change the typeface, size, spacing and colours, and be read aloud.
What does not work yet
These are real gaps, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
- Generated illustrations have no written description. A screen reader reaches a picture and cannot say what is in it. This is the most important one and we are working on it.
- The book preview is visual. The page-turning reader has not been tested with a screen reader, and the two-page spread assumes you can see both pages.
- Printed and PDF books are fixed layouts and cannot be resized or read aloud. If you need the text of a book in another form, ask us.
- No formal testing with assistive technology has been carried out across the whole journey.
If the site is in your way
Write to support@myherolegacy.com and tell us what you were trying to do and what happened. You do not need to know the technical name for the problem.
We will not leave you stuck while we fix it. If part of the site is unusable for you, we will help you complete it another way — taking the details over email, or sending your book’s text in a format your software can read. Say what would work for you and we will do it.
Telling us it is wrong
Accessibility reports go to the front of the queue, and we will answer yours rather than logging it silently. If our answer is not good enough, say so and it will come to IT Unlocked LLC directly.
